Softball Game Preview: Lake Forest Scouts vs. Mundelein Mustangs

Lake Forest hasn't had much luck against Mundelein recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Scouts will host the Mustangs at 4:45 p.m. Lake Forest has given up an average of 14.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lake Forest is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Fenton, falling 13-3.

Ranallo Arianna made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Mundelein had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Rams. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by just one run.

Lake Forest's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Mundelein, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.

Lake Forest suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Mundelein in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Scouts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
