Football Recap: Ashdown Comes Up Short

After flying high against Genoa Central last Friday, Ashdown came back down to earth. The Panthers were outmatched by the Malvern Leopards and fell 55-14. The Panthers have struggled against the Leopards recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryson French, who picked up 92 receiving yards and two touchdowns. French got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 50 yards. Another passer making a difference was Riley Williamson, who threw for 145 yards and one TD on only 11 passes.

Ashdown's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Malvern, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

Ashdown didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-14 defeat against Nashville on the 17th. As for Malvern, they have also already played their next matchup, a 41-16 loss against Bauxite on the 17th.
