Football Game Preview: Forestview Jaguars vs. South Point Red Raiders

Forestview is 1-9 against South Point since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Jaguars are taking a road trip to challenge the Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m.

Forestview came up short against Ashbrook on Friday, falling 27-6. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Greenwave are ranked 28th).

Meanwhile, South Point got themselves on the board against Kings Mountain on Friday, but Kings Mountain never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 35-0 victory over the Mountaineers. The result was nothing new for the Red Raiders, who have now won five matchups by 25 points or more so far this season.

South Point's win came from a few key players Forestview will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kaveaun Pless, who rushed for 176 yards and two TDs while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in August. Patrick Blee was another key player, rushing for 121 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries.

South Point was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 458 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 215 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

South Point's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.5 points on average over those games. As for Forestview, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Forestview was taken down by South Point 47-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
