Basketball Recap: Ignacio Comes Up Short

Ignacio was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Pagosa Springs Pirates and fell 51-22. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bobcats have suffered against the Pirates since February 15, 2019.

Ignacio got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Marissa Olguin and Delaney Wesner, who each put up six points.

Pagosa Springs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karsyn Shahan, who posted ten points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Shahan has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Kaila Limebrook was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Ignacio's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Pagosa Springs, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Ignacio didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-20 victory against Bayfield on the 23rd. Pagosa Springs has also already played their next game, a 59-38 win against Alamosa on the 24th.
