Baseball Recap: Llano Wins Going Away Against Florence

Llano won the last time they faced Florence and things went their way on Friday too. The Yellowjackets blew past the Buffaloes 14-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Lucas McClintock was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. McClintock was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Llano is 3-1 when McClintock posts two or more runs, but 2-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, Llano got a massive performance out of Colton Bailey, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Bailey is becoming a predictor of the Yellowjackets' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Carter Bickett, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Llano kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Florence only managed five hits.

Llano's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Florence, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Llano is set to take on their familiar foe Ingram Moore at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Florence will face off against rival Blanco at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
