Beecher is a perfect 10-0 against Grant Park since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bobcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Dragons at 4:30 p.m. Beecher is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Beecher's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Ottawa.
Beecher's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was MaKenzie Johnson, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Ashley Lorezatti also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Grant Park never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Illinois Lutheran last Thursday. They blew past the Chargers 10-0. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Cheyenne Hayes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Abigail Garcia was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Reegan Thompson, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Grant Park hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four strikeouts batters in three consecutive matches.
Beecher's win was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Grant Park, their record is now 2-3.
Both Beecher and Grant Park just can't seem to miss. The Bobcats have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Grant Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Beecher took their win against Grant Park in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
