Baseball Game Preview: Andover Golden Warriors vs. Wakefield Memorial Warriors

The Andover Golden Warriors will face off against the Wakefield Memorial Warriors at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Andover 2.6, Wakefield Memorial 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Andover is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since April 29, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Lincoln-Sudbury by a score of 6-4.

Chris Jaillet was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Ryan Jaillet was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wakefield Memorial came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They didn't even let the Vikings on the board, marking their second-straight 10-0 shutout. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.

Andover's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for Wakefield Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 14-5-1.
