On Thursday, Gaston Christian got the win against Concord Academy by a conclusive 3-0.
Gaston Christian was generally in control, but really had to dig deep in the third set to get the win. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-13, 25-23.
Meanwhile, everything went Gaston Day's way against Hickory Grove Christian on Thursday as Gaston Day made off with a 3-0 victory.
The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-19, 25-10.
Gaston Day can attribute much of their success to Ava Blanton, who had 17 digs and two aces. Blanton is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last 12 games she's played.
Gaston Christian's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-6. As for Gaston Day, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6.
