Softball Recap: River Valley Comes Up Short

River Valley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Campbellsport, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Blackhawks fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Blackhawks couldn't push the score so high this time.

River Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Stokes, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

River Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Campbellsport, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

River Valley will be playing at home against Richland Center at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Blackhawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Campbellsport, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Westby on the 2nd.
