Basketball Recap: Fontainebleau Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

Fontainebleau hadn't done well against Slidell recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Fontainebleau Bulldogs secured a 72-67 W over the Slidell Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 49-47 two weeks ago.

Slidell's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of James Chaney, who went 8 of 14 to rack up 21 points and five rebounds, and Jerry Birdlow, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. What's more, Birdlow also racked up four blocks, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Kolby Rachel was another key player, going 5 for 7 on his way to 11 points and four steals.

Fontainebleau is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 21-15 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points over those games. As for Slidell, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 19-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fontainebleau will face off against Salmen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Slidell, they will square off against South Plaquemines at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
