Softball Recap: Cardinal Newman Comes Up Short

If Cardinal Newman was feeling good fresh off their 16-1 takedown of Forest Hill last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinal Newman Crusaders lost 12-2 to the American Heritage Patriots on Monday.

Reese Khanna was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Cardinal Newman's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for American Heritage, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Looking ahead, Cardinal Newman will face off against Park Vista at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Park Vista's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Cardinal Newman's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for American Heritage, they will challenge Doral Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Doral Academy has won three straight at home, while American Heritage won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
