Basketball Recap: Vassar Takes a Loss

Vassar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 37-28 to the Caro Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Vulcans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 507th, while the Tigers are ranked 145th).

When it comes to explaining why Vassar lost, don't look at Makenna McCloud. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Caro found their leader in sophomore Shayler McIntyre, who had 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. McIntyre is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Normandy Geiger, who posted four points and six steals.

Vassar's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Caro, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

Vassar will welcome Cass City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Caro, they are taking a road trip to face off against Unionville-Sebewaing at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Unionville-Sebewaing's defense has only allowed 29.7 points per game this season, so Caro's offense will have their work cut out for them.
