Baseball Game Preview: Redington Huskies vs. Homer Mariners

Redington hasn't had much luck against Homer recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Huskies will challenge the Mariners at 6:00 p.m. Redington has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Redington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Soldotna, who was ranked seventh at the time (Redington was ranked 23rd). The Huskies came up short against the Stars on Thursday, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Huskies' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Redington saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JuJu Atencio, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Atencio has hit this season.

Palmer hit Homer with a five-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mariners fell 7-3 to the Moose. The defeat continues a trend for the Mariners in their meetings with the Moose: they've now lost four in a row.
