Softball Recap: South Florence Extends Winning Streak to Four

While South Florence's win against Darlington wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The South Florence Bruins came out on top in a nail-biter against the Darlington Falcons on Friday, sneaking past 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Bruins sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Payton Perry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, South Florence's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Page White, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Reagan Rowsey also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

South Florence's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Darlington, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Looking ahead, South Florence will face off against Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. South Florence's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Lakewood's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Darlington, they will take on Hartsville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
