Softball Game Preview: Fort Wayne Snider Panthers vs. Garrett Railroaders

Fort Wayne Snider is 2-8 against Garrett since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Railroaders at 10:00 a.m.

Fort Wayne Snider is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against South Adams on Friday. They lost 11-0 to the Starfires.

Fort Wayne Snider saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ameera Kummer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Kummer is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Meanwhile, Garrett earned a 5-1 win over Prairie Heights on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Railroaders.

Ashlee Vanderbosch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Atalie Gullett, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. Peyton Grindstaff was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Garrett's victory bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Fort Wayne Snider, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.

Fort Wayne Snider couldn't quite get it done against Garrett when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
