Softball Preview: Northview Knights vs. Sullivan Golden Arrows

Northview and Sullivan are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Northview Knights will head out on the road to take on the Sullivan Golden Arrows at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Northview has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Thursday, Northview wound up with the same score they had in their last game (3-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

MAGGIE KRAUSE was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. KRAUSE has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. KRAUSE was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with a home run and two runs.

In other batting news, MIANAH THOMPSON made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with a double and an RBI.

Meanwhile, Sullivan came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.1 runs) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the Eagles.

Like Northview, Sullivan also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaylynn Hobbs. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit, only one earned run over four innings pitched. Hobbs was even better at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and three doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mylee Vandevender, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexus Grindstaff, who went 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Northview dropped their record down to 5-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Sullivan, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
