Basketball Game Preview: Hermleigh Cardinals vs. Gordon Longhorns

The Hermleigh Cardinals will take on the Gordon Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Hermleigh challenged Westbrook on Monday. Hermleigh lost 62-41 to Westbrook. The Cardinals have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Gordon came tearing into Friday's match with 15 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.4 points), and they left with even more momentum. They breezed past the Tigers to the tune of 71-35. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 360th, while the Tigers are ranked 879th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gordon's victory bumped their record up to 20-3. As for Hermleigh, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-11.

Everything came up roses for Hermleigh against Gordon in their previous matchup back in December of 2017, as the squad secured a 66-35 win. Does Hermleigh have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gordon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
