Softball Recap: Hernando Takes a Loss

Hernando and Crystal River squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Hernando had to settle for second. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 back in March.

Kaitlyn Carter was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits.

Hernando has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10-1 record this season. As for Crystal River, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-5.

As of now, neither Hernando nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
