Basketball Recap: Caprock Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Rachel Bogan and Taylor Phillips

Caprock Academy played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Hayden Tigers, falling 44-20. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Caprock Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Taylor Phillips, who posted six points in addition to five boards and four steals, and Rachel Bogan, who put up seven points along with seven steals and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Bogan a new career-high in steals.

Hayden's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taryn Schlim, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. Schlim also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Hayden is 4-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 5-6 otherwise. Ava Wilson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Caprock Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Hayden, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Caprock Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 37-24 victory against Vail Christian on the 22nd. As for Hayden, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-15 loss against West Grand on the 22nd.
