Volleyball Recap: Newman Smith Takes a Loss

Newman Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Lone Star Rangers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-13, 25-8.

Kaitlyn Smith went supernova For Lone Star., getting eight digs and two aces. Smith has been hot recently, having also posted 14 or more assists the last three times she's played.

Newman Smith's defeat dropped their record down to 6-21. As for Lone Star, they pushed their record up to 16-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Newman Smith will challenge rival Turner at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lone Star is set to face off against their familiar foe Highland Park at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
