Softball Recap: Peotone Victorious

Grant Park typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Peotone proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Dragons 3-1. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Sophie Klawitter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Mary Klawitter was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Paisley Schnelle also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Peotone's record now sits at 7-9. As for Grant Park, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 13-1.

Looking ahead, Peotone will challenge Herscher at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.05 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Grant Park, they will head out to challenge Beecher at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
