Baseball Game Preview: Bradford Eagles vs. Midland Mustangs

Bradford is 1-9 against Midland since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Eagles will head out to face off against the Mustangs at 9:23 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bradford barely beat Concord the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles never let the Pirates get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Bradford's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Micah Dunn, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Gage Davis also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Midland and Brinkley, and Midland kept the tradition alive. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 25-0 margin over the Tigers on Tuesday.

Brantley Langle was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Aaron Bozeman was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Midland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive matches.

The win got Bradford back to even at 5-5. As for Midland, their record now sits at 15-11.

Bradford suffered a grim 22-1 defeat to Midland in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
