Baseball Recap: Holland Sets Scoring Season-High Against Zeeland East

Holland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 16-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Zeeland East Chix. On the bright side, the 13- run performance marked the Dutch's highest-scoring game to date.

Jay Cantu stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Those runs marked the first that he has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Asher Folkert, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Holland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Zeeland East, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 8-0.

Zeeland East has already played their next matchup, an 11-0 win against Whitehall on the 19th. Hopefully Holland paid attention to the Chix's contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Chix at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
