Basketball Recap: Manzanola Takes a Loss

Manzanola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Patriots and fell 51-11. The Bobcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-3.

Noli Gallegos was Manzanola's leading scorer, having posted six points.

Leading South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] to victory were Sarah Elmore and Callie Hinds. Elmore almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals, while Hinds went 8 for 15 on her way to 17 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Hinds a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliana Gutierrez, who posted seven points.

Manzanola's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.

Manzanola wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-12 loss against Miami-Yoder on the 24th. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Granada at 3:00 p.m. Granada has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
