Football Game Preview: Swampscott Big Blue vs. Melrose Red Raiders

The Swampscott Big Blue will head out to square off against the Melrose Red Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Swampscott will be strutting in after a victory while Melrose will be coming in after a loss.

Swampscott had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 22-point drubbing they dealt Peabody Veterans Memorial on Friday. The Big Blue were the clear victors by a 28-6 margin over the Tanners. The win continues a trend for the Big Blue in their matchups with the Tanners: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Melrose played a tough matchup two weeks ago in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Reading Memorial, falling 36-12. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.

Melrose's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Swampscott, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Swampscott couldn't quite get it done against Melrose in their previous matchup back in September of 2024 as they fell 34-27. Can the Big Blue avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
