Basketball Game Preview: Altoona-Midway Jets vs. Marmaton Valley Wildcats

The Altoona-Midway Jets will challenge the Marmaton Valley Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Altoona-Midway beat Chetopa 58-45. The Jets pushed the score to 51-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hornets cut but never quite recovered from.

William Stackhouse continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 13 boards. He has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 36 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Joey Lamendola, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Marmaton Valley hadn't done well against Southern Coffey County recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Marmaton Valley blew past Southern Coffey County, posting a 63-18 victory. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 33 points or more this season.

Marmaton Valley is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40 points. As for Altoona-Midway, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Altoona-Midway took a serious blow against Marmaton Valley in their previous meeting back in January, falling 71-38. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Altoona-Midway was down 42-22.
