It's official: Indianapolis Cathedral is MaxPreps' 2015 mythical national high school volleyball champion.

Jesuit and Gabriel Richard made it interesting the last few weeks of the season, trying to knock Cathedral off its perch. Both finished with state titles, unbeaten records and were not pushed to a five-set match in 2015.

But Cathedral, which was ranked No. 16 in MaxPreps' first Xcellent 25 in mid-August, moved to No. 1 on Sept. 16 and never relinquished the top spot.

With California wrapping up its championship tournaments over the weekend, there were few changes to the rankings. Redondo Union (Redondo Beach, Calif.) repeated as Division 1 champions and moved to No. 9, while Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.) repeated as the D-2 champions and finished the season ranked No. 17.

New to the Top 25 this week was No. 25 Marian (Omaha, Neb.), which won its final 37 matches and the Class A state title. Marian opened the season in mid-August ranked No. 24.

To make the final rankings of the season even more special, they have been expanded to 50 teams.
