Recap: Lamar Consolidated Mustangs vs. Magnolia Bulldogs
The Lamar Consolidated Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 62-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Magnolia. Lamar Consolidated was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Magnolia apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Lamar Consolidated still got an impressive performance from Shafeeq Mujahideen, who scored 18 points along with six assists. Mujahideen scored a full 34.6% of Lamar Consolidated's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Arispe, who scored 11 points.
Lamar Consolidated's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Magnolia, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lamar Consolidated will be home for the holidays to greet South Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Houston presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lamar Consolidated in Texas (South Houston is ranked 85th, while Lamar Consolidated is ranked 1015th). Magnolia will be home for the holidays to greet A&M Consolidated at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
