Soccer Recap: West Stanly Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous three meetings between West Stanly and Piedmont, and Piedmont kept the tradition alive. The Colts came up short against the Panthers on Tuesday, falling 8-2. If West Stanly were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to Piedmont when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Raygan Gainey and Kennedy Foxx scored both of West Stanly's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 23 goals.

West Stanly's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-5. As for Piedmont, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Stanly will host Central Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Piedmont, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Piedmont duke it out with Anson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
