League recap: University tops Eureka/Roanoke-Benson to extend winning streak

University extended the longest winning streak in Corn Belt this week by beating Eureka/Roanoke-Benson, 47-0. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

The Hornets moved up to 452 from 481 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 47-0 win over Eureka/Roanoke-Benson helped Eureka/Roanoke-Benson improve its standing.

Tyler Francisco was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 190 yards on eight carries as Mahomet-Seymour topped the Hornets. Teammate Jordan Rock added to the ground attack by rushing for 179 yards.

Addison Bounds threw for 220 yards and four touchdowns. He was 13-17 with one interceptions.

Wildermuth was the best wideout in Corn Belt this week as Dusty Burk's team topped Eureka/Roanoke-Benson. Wildermuth tallied three receptions for 118 yards. Noah Larsen helped University's passing attack out by catching two balls for 30 yards.

Prairie Central's Bounds and Ian Briscoe have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Bounds has thrown for 1113 yards this season, while Briscoe, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 30 catches for 452 yards. Rock from the Bulldogs leads the league in rushing with 490 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Pontiac takes on the Pioneers. The Indians are currently in fourth, while University is in first.

Central Catholic was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in the league. The Saints vanquished Pontiac 28-6 earlier in the week.
