Volleyball Recap: Etiwanda Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Cohen Jimeno and Keiffer Rubillar

Etiwanda and Rio Hondo Prep squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Etiwanda had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Kares by a score of 3-2. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Etiwanda took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 20-25, 27-29, 25-12, 15-13.

Etiwanda's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Keiffer Rubillar, who had ten digs and two aces, and Cohen Jimeno, who had ten kills, four digs, and two blocks. Jimeno is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had seven or more in each of the last 24 games he's played dating back to last season.

Etiwanda's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Rio Hondo Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-13 record this season.

Etiwanda does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rio Hondo Prep, they will face off against St. Monica at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
