Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Jacksboro's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Jacksboro never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against City View on Tuesday. They blew past the Mustangs 14-2. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Wyatt Gavit made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Cannon Valenzuela was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Joxan Delgado also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Jacksboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as City View only posted an OBP of .263.

Jacksboro is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for City View, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13.

Jacksboro will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
