Basketball Recap: Melina Petramalo Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Monroe

It was a proper cat-fight when Bellarmine Prep faced off against Monroe on Tuesday. The Bellarmine Prep Lions walked away with a 55-42 win over the Monroe Bearcats. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Bellarmine Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Melina Petramalo, who posted 16 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Marie Wiggins, who scored eight points in addition to nine boards and four steals.

Bellarmine Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Bellarmine Prep's win bumped their record up to 22-8. As for Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.

Coming up, Bellarmine Prep will venture away from home to challenge Eastside Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
