Melbourne Central Catholic falls despite strong effort from Hayden Deane

Recap: Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers vs. Morningside Academy Eagles

After a string of four wins, the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Morningside Academy 47-42. Melbourne Central Catholic lost against Morningside Academy in their previous head to head back in January of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 71-29 score last time.

Despite the loss, Melbourne Central Catholic still got an impressive performance from Hayden Deane, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Henry Lane, who scored nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Morningside Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marvin Tidas, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Clark, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and two steals.

Melbourne Central Catholic's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3. As for Morningside Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Melbourne Central Catholic will take on Lincoln Park Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Morningside Academy on the road again on Friday and play against Altamonte Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th.
