Basketball Recap: Byng Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Byng can now relate to. They fell to the Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish 51-47. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by exactly four points.

Bishop McGuinness' win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Stone, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Parks, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 13 points.

Byng has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points over those games. Bishop McGuinness has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Byng does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bishop McGuinness, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ardmore at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Bishop McGuinness is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season.
