Basketball Recap: KB Brown and Nykira Arrington Secure Win for South Mecklenburg

South Mecklenburg waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took down the Ardrey Kell Knights 66-52. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 46-45 win two weeks ago.

South Mecklenburg was led to victory by Nykira Arrington and KB Brown. Arrington dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards, while Brown went 7-for-17 on her way to 24 points. Brown is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Hensley, who posted four points and six steals.

South Mecklenburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 19 consecutive matchups.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Layla Mapp, who put up 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miyanna Veal, who scored nine points.

South Mecklenburg's record now sits at 23-4. As for Ardrey Kell, they moved to 17-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

South Mecklenburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 78-50 win against Reagan on the 25th. As for Ardrey Kell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-41 loss against Grimsley on the 25th.
