Basketball Recap: Magnolia West Takes a Loss

Magnolia West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 67-36 loss at the hands of the Tomball Memorial Wildcats. The Mustangs lost against the Wildcats in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 86-29 score last time.

Magnolia West's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayden Zinn, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds, and Thomas Watson, who posted nine points. Zinn's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Magnolia West's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Tomball Memorial, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10.

Magnolia West will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Magnolia at 1:00 p.m. on December 31st. As for Tomball Memorial, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-39 defeat against Lufkin on the 27th.
