Basketball Recap: Thomas Maclaren School Drops Highest Score of Season Against Golden View Classical Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Thomas MacLaren School). They breezed past the Golden View Classical Academy Sentinels to the tune of 66-35 on Saturday. The Highlanders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Thomas MacLaren School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sara Christensen, who almost dropped a triple-double with 20 points, 16 boards, and nine steals. Christensen's morning made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Sarae Johnson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 21 points and ten steals.

Thomas MacLaren School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive contests.

Golden View Classical Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jocelyn Le, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most boards Le has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Acocella, who put up nine points.

Thomas MacLaren School's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points over those games. As for Golden View Classical Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-5.

Thomas MacLaren School wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-26 victory against Banning Lewis Academy on the 11th. As for Golden View Classical Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-15 win against Ascent Classical Academy on the 10th.
