Football Recap: Atascocita Takes a Loss + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Atascocita can now relate to. They took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dickinson Gators on Friday. The matchup was a 37-37 toss-up at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why Atascocita lost, don't look at Cardae Mack. Despite the final result, he rushed for 225 yards and three scores while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 290 yards and three touchdowns. Mack has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last five times he's played.

A big part of Dickinson's win came down to the chemistry between Lorenzo Aguirre and his top target Kaileb Peterson. Aguirre threw for 310 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt while Peterson gained 221 total yards. What's more, Peterson racked up 50 receiving yards, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Atascocita's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Dickinson, they pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Atascocita does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dickinson, they are taking a road trip to take on Pearland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,042 yards in their previous games.
