Basketball Recap: Washington Falls Despite Big Games from Nasear Bailey and Elijah Thomas

Washington fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Crisfield on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 83-79 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crisfield Crabbers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (70), the Jaguars still had to take the loss.

Washington's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Elijah Thomas, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 14 rebounds, and Nasear Bailey, who shot 5-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 22 points and 12 boards. Thomas' big performance that evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Jakai Jones was another key player, putting up five points.

Even though they lost, Washington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Washington dropped their record down to 3-19 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Crisfield, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 5-18.

Looking ahead, Washington will face off against Mardela at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Washington's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. Crisfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
