Softball Game Preview: Jones Eagles vs. Chicago Academy Cougars

The Jones Eagles will head out to square off against the Chicago Academy Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Chicago Academy took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Jones, who comes in off a win.

Jones barely beat Proviso East the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 22-5 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lucy Paskiewicz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Paskiewicz is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Amanda Lopez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Chicago Academy was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They lost 18-1 to Jones. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Jones pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Chicago Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Jones took their victory against Chicago Academy when the teams last played on Friday by a conclusive 18-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
