Volleyball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends Granite Bay's Winning Streak

After a string of four wins, Granite Bay's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They lost 3-0 to the Jesuit Marauders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Marauders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in March.

While Granite Bay ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-21, 25-18.

Jesuit was led to victory by Naryan Banerjee and Nicolas Hill-Gaston. Banerjee had 11 digs and five assists, while Hill-Gaston hit 77.8% for 14 kills and eight digs and three aces. Those 77.8% hitting percentage gave Hill-Gaston a new career-high.

Granite Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Jesuit, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Granite Bay is set to square off against their familiar foe Folsom at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Jesuit will face off against rival Davis Sr. at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Marauders' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Blue Devils have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
