Basketball Recap: Mountain View Takes a Loss

Mountain View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Riverbend Bears 66-38. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while the Bears are ranked 84th).

Riverbend got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nate Tyler out in front who went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points and four steals. Amani Gipson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.

Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Riverbend, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View has already played their next matchup (against Colonial Forge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Riverbend will square off against North Stafford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverbend is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season.
