Baseball Game Preview: Timberline Wolves vs. Borah Lions

Timberline is 8-2 against Borah since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wolves will host the Lions at 7:00 p.m. Borah took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Timberline, who comes in off a win.

Timberline was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They skirted past Boise 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted against the Brave since April 1, 2022.

Timberline got a great performance from Garrett Mirel as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 5.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Mirel has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Aidan Messerschmitt was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Borah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Rocky Mountain, falling 10-0.

Timberline's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Borah, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.

Timberline couldn't quite get it done against Borah in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
