Softball Recap: Decatur Central Find Success

After losing to Franklin Community the last time they met, Decatur Central decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hawks had just enough and edged out the Grizzly Cubs 11-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hawks considering their one-run performance the game before.

Harlow Estes was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashyr Lawson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Decatur Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matches.

Decatur Central's record now sits at 10-12. As for Franklin Community, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-11.

Looking ahead, Decatur Central will square off against Perry Meridian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. Franklin Community does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
