Baseball Game Preview: Frankfort Falcons vs. Bridgeport Indians

For the second straight game, Frankfort will face off against Bridgeport. The Falcons will host the Indians at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Frankfort 3.7, Bridgeport 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Frankfort is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Bridgeport, who was ranked fourth at the time (Frankfort was ranked ninth). The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Indians on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Falcons, who have now won four matchups in a row.

Lanson Orndorf made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxon Hare, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Jacob Nething was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Frankfort always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.

Frankfort pushed their record up to 21-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bridgeport, with the defeat, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 25-9.
