Softball Recap: Flandreau Find Success

Flandreau hadn't done well against Sioux Valley recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Flandreau had just enough and edged out Sioux Valley 9-8. For the Fliers, this counts as revenge for the 7-3 victory the Cossacks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Flandreau let Jacey Sundermeyer and Addy Hammer run wild. Sundermeyer scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while Hammer scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Sundermeyer a new career-high. Hailieanne Schepel was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

The win got Flandreau back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flandreau will square off against Parker at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sioux Valley, they will take on Deuel at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
