Orrville moved up to 154 from 213 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Ohio Cardinal. The Red Riders were able to move up by topping Lexington 16-9.
Ashland was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. The Arrows vanquished Wooster 38-17 earlier in the week.
Ashland's dynamic duo of Nick Zurcher and Max Stringer proved tough for the Generals to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Zurcher threw for 264 yards and 2 touchdowns and Stringer had 155 yards receiving. Jacob Allton helped Ashland's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 64 yards.
Scott Valentine's team's dynamic duo of Zurcher and Stringer proved to be unstoppable against Wooster, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Stringer was the best receiver in the league this week as the Arrows bested Doug Haas' team.
He went 21-33 with 1 interception.
Tyquan Vickers was a force in the backfield as Mansfield Senior beat Clear Fork.
Vickers was the most successful running back in Ohio Cardinal this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 261 yards as the Tygers defeated the Generals. Teammate Malon Samuel added to the ground attack by rushing for 18 yards.
Zurcher put up the best numbers in passing as the Arrows beat Wooster.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Ashland's Zurcher and Stringer have proven to be a lethal combination. Zurcher has thrown for 1,123 yards this season, while Stringer, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 28 catches for 405 yards. Mansfield Senior's Vickers leads the league in rushing yards with 520.
Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Chioke Bradley's team takes on Orrville. The Tygers' offense has scored 162 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Doug Davault's team has allowed only 54 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mansfield Senior takes on the Red Riders. At the moment, the Tygers are in third, while Orrville is in second.
West Holmes extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Madison Comprehensive, 42-12. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Knights.
