Don Lugo wins going away against Santa Paula

Recap: Don Lugo Conquistadores vs. Santa Paula Cardinals

With a playoff game on the line, the Don Lugo Conquistadores rose to the challenge on Friday. They took down Santa Paula 45-31. Winning may never get old, but Don Lugo sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Leading Don Lugo to victory were Gavin Hrynezuk and Kalib Pacheco. Hrynezuk picked up 255 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Pacheco threw for 445 yards and six touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes. Hrynezuk has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more receiving yards the last six times he's played. Joshua Morales did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 66 receiving yards.

Santa Paula's loss came despite strong showings from Allen Macias and Izahah Mata. Macias gained 185 total yards and two touchdowns, while Mata threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

Don Lugo's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.0 points per game. As for Santa Paula, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.

Don Lugo will look to defend their home field on Friday against Coachella Valley at 7:00 p.m. Coachella Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 383 points over their last eight games. Santa Paula does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
