Softball Recap: Schurr Takes a Loss

Schurr's tournament run continued when they took on Palos Verdes on Saturday. The Schurr Spartans fell just short of the Palos Verdes Sea Kings by a score of 3-2. The contest marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Schurr saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Melina Sanchez, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Kayla Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Schurr and nudges their season record down to 4-2. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Palos Verdes, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, Schurr will be taking part in a tournament against Yucaipa at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Yucaipa: 3, Schurr: 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Palos Verdes, they will head out to square off against Segerstrom at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Palos Verdes' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Segerstrom's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
